Timekeeping on Show Day with LIVE Mode

Master on-show event timekeeping with GIG DECK's high-contrast LIVE mode. Prevent screen sleep using WakeLock API, sync schedule updates to all devices instantly, and keep your DJs and VJs perfectly aligned.

Once the show starts, your timetable tool needs to do more than store a schedule—it needs to act as a live timekeeper. GIG DECK’s LIVE mode is designed for exactly that: a simple, always-on display for the booth or stage wing.

What LIVE Mode Does

Large countdown in a dark-friendly layout

Dark background, big text, current DJ’s remaining time front and center. A quick glance from across the booth is enough. No zooming, no squinting at a spreadsheet.

Screen stays on without touching it

Phones and tablets auto-lock after a minute or two. In LIVE mode, GIG DECK uses the WakeLock API to prevent that. Set it down in the booth and it stays on the whole night.

Updates sync instantly to every device

When the organizer adjusts a set length from backstage, the LIVE display at the booth updates without anyone refreshing the page.

How to Use It

  1. Open your event in GIG DECK
  2. Toggle LIVE mode on at the top of the screen
  3. Place the device where it’s easy to see—next to the mixer, on the lighting desk, wherever
  4. If a set runs late, adjust the time from a separate device. The LIVE display catches up automatically.

Keep the Whole Crew on the Same Page

Sending the same GIG DECK URL to VJ, lighting, sound, and door staff means everyone is looking at the same live schedule. No one is working from a screenshot taken two hours ago.

Running Multiple Devices

A practical setup for most shows: tablet at the DJ booth in LIVE mode + organizer’s phone for editing + lighting crew’s laptop for reference.

When the organizer adjusts timing on their phone, the booth tablet and lighting crew’s screen update simultaneously. No need to walk over to the booth or call across the venue to pass on a change.

Practical Booth Setup Tips

  • Dial in the brightness — LIVE mode is high-contrast, but max brightness in a pitch-black room can be distracting for the DJ. Set it to a comfortable level before the show.
  • Use a stand — Bass vibration can move a phone. A weighted stand or rubber-grip holder keeps it in place.
  • Plug it in — Screen-always-on means faster battery drain. Run a cable to a wall outlet or power bank.

FAQ

Q: Does WakeLock work on all browsers?
Chrome and Edge work reliably. Safari on iOS can sometimes override it depending on low-power mode settings. Chrome on Android or iOS gives the most predictable results.

Q: Can I edit the schedule while LIVE mode is running?
Yes. Open the editing view on a separate device. Changes push to the LIVE display in real time.
